The Hinckley Challenge...
President Hinckley often stressed our making the Book of Mormon part of our lives. He was 97 when he passed away, and we would like to celebrate his life and teachings by reading the Book of Mormon in 97 days.
President Gordon B. Hinckley on the Book of Mormon
"I take in my hand the Book of Mormon. I read its words. I have read Joseph Smith's explanation of how it came to be. To the unbelieving it is a story difficult to accept, and critics for generations have worn out their lives writing books intended to refute that story and to offer other explanations than the one given by Joseph the Prophet. But to the open-minded, this critical writing has only stimulated them to dig deeper; and the more deeply they dig, the greater the accumulation of evidence for the validity of Joseph Smith's story. Still, as has been demonstrated for a hundred and fifty years, the truth of the Book of Mormon will not be determined by literary analysis or by scientific research, although these continue to be reassuring. The truth about the origins of the Book of Mormon will be determined today and tomorrow, as it has been throughout the yesterdays, by reading the book in a spirit of reverence and respect and prayer."

Need a refresher in American Government...
So today I made it a goal to do my duty as an American and go out and vote! Maddux and I waited for forty-five minutes in the A-L line. When we got to the front, Drew was on the list but I wasn't! The nice lady kindly told me that I would need to go to the end of the "Provisional voting" line. I kindly said a few things under my breath, seeing that the line would take another 20 minutes...at least! So, I wait...then my sister Amber calls and she tells me that she is waiting for her husband to get home so she can go vote, "He can watch the kids while I vote...since he is registered as Independent and can't vote today". A light went off in my head...I am registered as an Independent! If only I had paid attention in Mr. Puga's Government class I would know that YOU CAN'T VOTE IN A PRIMARY ELECTION IF YOU ARE REGISTERED AS AN INDEPENDENT!!! So, an hour of my day...wasted! Yes...feel free to laugh! I am an idiot but I laughed my head off the whole way home! :)Monday, February 4, 2008

Sucked in...
So - many of you have recommended this book to me and I'm sure I told all of you that it's just not "my type" of book. The only books I can get into are true crime books. Well, my mother in law got it for me for Christmas so I thought I would give it a try- fairly certain I wouldn't make it more than a couple pages into a crazy book about vampires! Wow, was I ever wrong! I had to go buy the second book tonight (I'm not quite done with the first but I didn't dare risk finishing it on Sunday and being without #2 right away) and I do have to say how silly I feel that the only book I have bought in ages was found under the "Great Gifts For Kids" section. :) Anyway, for the record...you were all right and I was wrong! Great vampire books!!Tuesday, January 8, 2008
Camera Happy...
They kept telling me I was going to have a "big baby" and so I skipped right over all the newborn clothes and stocked up on 0-3 month. Well, our little 6 pounder doesn't FIT in any of his 0-3 month clothes, so here he is looking like a little thug! I still think he looks adorable!
I am so mean....
