Drew's Big Weekend...

This was a busy week for Drew! We got to celebrate his first Father's Day on Sunday and then Monday was his birthday. For his birthday, we had a whiffle ball picnic in our neighborhood on Saturday. Besides the blistering heat and the swarms of flies attacking the food, the party was a hit. We ordered a 6 foot sub and everyone brought something to share. We played a game of whiffle ball and some CornHole. I'm so bummed because I completely forgot to take any pictures of the big event! What was I thinking!?

Anyway, the next day was Father's Day! We went to my mom and Dad's house for Dinner where Drew and my Dad both got their favorite meal of my mom's amazing ribs (I HEAR they are amazing...I don't eat ribs, but they sure smelled tasty!) The boys and Kasey jumped over the fence and hit some golf balls out on the course and then we all took a little swim to cool off after the sun went down.

this is the centerpiece for our father's day dinner. my mom decorated it with candies that "describe" men- "nerds", "big hunks", "lifesavers", "kissables", etc...so cute!
I have to say that I am so lucky to have married such an amazing man who is a GREAT husband and an even better Dad. Maddux is one lucky kid. He loves playing with his Daddy and Drew never fails to make him smile and squeal with laughter. What a great dad! I love you!!!

I am also blessed to have an awesome dad of my own. I love his great example of how he lives his life. He always has time to have fun and make us all laugh. I love spending time with him, he really is one of my best friends!

My dad insisted on feeding Maddux something new at dinner. When I refused to let him eat a candy bar, ribs, or corn, my dad settled for feeding him a mashed up banana...this is a before eating and after eating picture...not a fan, I'd say.

Nope, Drew's big weekend isn't over yet! Monday was his actual birthday. 27! Old Man!!! :) Maddux and I drove to Honeywell and took him to lunch at Macayo's. My mom and dad took us all out to dinner to Rustler's Rooste for his birthday dinner. This place is awesome! They have a live country band, a giant slide and a dance floor. After Dinner we all went to the driving range to hit some balls. Drew got some practice hitting his new Hybrid club I got him and I came to the realization that I STINK at hitting a golf ball!

Maddux and Daddy going down the slide at Rustler's Rooste..Maddux doesn't look like he's having much fun, huh?Bop Bop and Maddux at Rustler's Rooste (this is about when Maddux realized his 5 minute nap just wasn't going to cut it!)
When we got home Drew and I dug into a piece of the hamburger cake I made him. He was telling me over the weekend how his mom used to make these amazing hamburger cakes when he was little, but that he never actually got to eat them. I am not nearly as talented as Wendy (my mother-in-law) but I attempted to surprise him with his very own hamburger cake. It's far from fancy, but it actually LOOKS better than it tastes! (It was pretty gross!)
Happy Birthday Drew, We Love you!!!!

Hi! That's funny you came across my blog. I'm fairly new to this, so I'm not very savvy at it. Little Maddux is adorable. That really stinks about you cruise. Hopefully you have fun when it finally happens!

A cheeseburger cake?! Now that's a new one, but seriously-does it even sound good? Maybe next year you could make an enchilada cake for me...or a sushi cake (being that I'm asian and all). We can explore the world of cultural cakes together.

Looks like fun!
